James Godber and Kevin Rand grew Woburn Sands Tennis Club from 30 members to 200 – with an 80-person waiting list. This is their story, in their own words.
There's a member at Woburn Sands who comes every week and brings a cushion. She can't play right now. But she comes anyway. Kevin Rand on what you're really building when you build a tennis club.
Every club celebrates its top players – and rightly so. But a tennis club is made up of so much more. The other 80% includes players of different ages, levels and ambitions, all looking for their own way to play, connect and feel part of the club.
From a large health and racquets club to a two-court community club, the same challenge kept appearing: people wanted to play but didn't always know who else was available. Sometimes the players are already there – they just need an easier way to find each other.
At Clubmatch, we believe in the power of grassroots tennis and the communities that make it thrive. That belief doesn’t just live in our technology – it lives in the stories we’re proud to be part of. One of those stories is Oliver Settle.
